Cooked to perfection, these golden crispy air fried pakodas are healthy and tasty.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Gram flour (besan)
- 1.5 tbsp Rice flour
- 1 Onion (sliced) 250g
- 1 tbsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Cumin powder
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp Crushes red chili
- 1/2 tsp Red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 2-3 tbsp Cilantro chopped
- Green chilies chopped to taste
- 1 tbsp Oil
- 3-4 tbsp Water
- Spray oil
Instructions
Preparation
- Take a large onion (about 250 grams) and thinly slice them.
- Transfer the sliced onions into a large bowl. Add salt and gently massage the onions using your hand.
- Cover the bowl with a plate and let it sit for 10 minutes, this helps in releasing moisture from the onions.
- After 10 minutes, add besan, rice flour and all other ingredients. Mix well and make sure the mixture is stiff and not soggy.
- Next, add 1 tablespoon of oil. This helps to keep pakodas soft from the inside. So don't skip it.
For Air Frying
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (176°C) for 3-5 mins. Spray or brush some oil so that the pakodas don’t stick to the bottom of air fryer pan.
- Drop the pakoda mixture on the air fryer pan. You can make any size of your choice. I was able to make 10-12 pakodas from this mixture.
- Air fry at 350°F (176°C) for 10-12 minutes or until edges start browning and turn crispy. Flip the pakodas or shake the basket halfway through and spray some oil on the pakodas.
- Sprinkle chaat masala, and enjoy 🙂

Notes
- Onions shouldn’t be too thick or too thin.
- Do not add any extra water, the moisture from onions should be enough to form the dough.
- You may add additional 1-2 tablespoons of besan if required.
- Every air fryer is different, so adjust the time and temperature accordingly.
