Chicken Manchurian

Ingredients:

For Chicken Marination:

  • 2 lbs boneless chicken
  • 1 egg
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic, crushed
  • 1 tsp crushed red chili
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper powder
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 2 tbsp corn flour
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

For Gravy:

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1/2 cup tomato ketchup
  • 2 tbsp chili sauce
  • 1.5 tbsp sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 capsicum, diced (optional)
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp corn flour mixed with water

Instructions:

1. Marinating the Chicken:

  • In a bowl, combine boneless chicken pieces with egg, salt, crushed garlic, crushed red chili, black pepper powder, soy sauce, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce (if using), corn flour, and all-purpose flour.
  • Mix well to coat the chicken evenly.
  • Marinate the chicken for at least 30-40 minutes.
  • After marination, deep fry the chicken pieces in hot oil until golden brown. Fry them one by one to ensure even cooking. Remove and set aside.

2. Preparing the Gravy:

  • In the same pan, remove excess oil, leaving about 1 tablespoon.
  • Add minced garlic and sauté for a minute.
  • Stir in soy sauce, vinegar, tomato ketchup, chili sauce, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Cook on high flame for 2 minutes.
  • Add diced capsicum (if using) and cook for another minute.
  • Pour in 1 cup of water and let it come to a boil.
  • Mix corn flour with water to make a slurry and add it to the boiling gravy, stirring continuously.
  • Cook for an additional 2 minutes or until the gravy thickens.
  • Finally, add the fried chicken pieces to the gravy and mix until well coated.
  • Turn off the flame and serve hot.
