Matar Chicken Salan

Matar chicken Salan
Ingredients
- 1 kg Chicken
- 1/2 cup Oil
- 1 Onion sliced
- Tomato 1 large or 2 small
- 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp Green chili paste or to taste
- 1/2 cup Yogurt
- 1/4 tsp Black pepper
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 tsp Cumin powder
- 1 tsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Red chilli powder or to taste
- 1/2 tsp Paprika
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
Garnishing
- Green chillies
- Cilantro
- Garam masala as required
- Lemon as needed
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pot over medium-high heat until hot.
- Add sliced onions and sauté until they change color.
- Add cumin seeds and black pepper, sauté for another minute.
- Add chicken and cook until it changes color.
- Stir in ginger garlic paste and continue cooking.
- Add spices and cook on high heat for a couple of minutes (bhunofy).
- Blend tomatoes and yogurt together, then add to the chicken mixture.
- Cook (bhunofy) for 5-6 minutes, adding a splash of water if needed.
- Add peas and cook for an additional 5-6 minutes.
- Pour in hot water, cover, and cook until the chicken is fully cooked through and peas are softened.
- Adjust the consistency of the salan to your liking.
- Finally, add green chilies and cilantro, sprinkle with garam masala, and enjoy!
