Trifle Fruit Custard
Perfect for tea-time and parties. A desert made with chunky fruits, custard, thin layer of sliced cake topped with jelly or cream. The contents of this trifle are highly variable.
Fruit Trifle
Ingredients
Custard
- 1 Cup Milk for custard mixture
- 4 Tbsp Custard powder
- 1 L Milk for custard
- 1/2 Cup Sugar or to taste
Jelly
- 2 Cups Water
- 1 pckt Jelly crystals your choise
Sugar Syrup
- 1 Cup Water
- 1 Cup Sugar or to taste
Assembling
- Cake slices as required
- Apples as required
- Bananas as required
- Fruit cocktail as required
- Cream as required
Instructions
Preparation
- In a bowl add milk, custard powder, whisk well and keep it aside. Custard mixture is ready.
- In a pot, add milk and sugar. Cook until sugar is fully dissolved. Now add prepared custard mixture stirring continuously and cook on medium flame until thick in consistency. Let it cool at room temperature.
- Next prepare the jellies of your choice, following the instructions on the jelly packet. Refrigerate until chilled.
- Prepare the sugar syrup, by mixing water and sugar and keep it aside.
Assembling
- In a dish place cake slices, drizzle sugar syrup on them. Add bananas, apples or any fruit of your choice. Add some jelly over it.
- Next Add prepared custard (custard should not be HOT, make sure its at room temeperature).
- Add another layer of fruits of your choice. You can add as many layers as you want.
- Add custard, jelly, crumbed cookies (your choice), or crushed chocolate. Cream is optional here 🙂
