Very delicious and flavorful chicken recipe, cooked in onions, tomato paste and yogurt along with spices. It is a perfect meal, for every day or even for parties.

Ingredients
  

Chicken Marination

  • 2 lbs Chicken boneless cut into cubes
  • 1 tsp Salt or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika

Cooking

  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp Red chili powder
  • 2 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 3/4 tsp Garam masala
  • 1 tbsp Dried fenugreek leaves (kasuri methi)
  • 1/2 cup Oil
  • 200 gms Onion chopped/grated
  • 2 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp Green chili paste or to taste
  • 1/2 cup Tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup yogurt whisked
  • Water as required

Instructions
 

  • Marinate the chicken with salt, black pepepr, red chili powder and paprika. Mix and set aside for 30 mins.
  • Heat oil in a wok or kadhai and add the chopped/grated onion. Fry on medium heat till the color changes.
  • Add the ginger garlic paste, mix and continue to fry on low to medium heat for 2-3 mins.
  • Add the green chili paste and cook.
  • Next add the marinated chicken, mix and cook on high heat for 1-2 mins till the color changes.
  • Add turmeric, red chili powder, corainder powder and salt. Cook 2-3 mins on high heat.
  • Add tomato puree and cook 3-4 mins.
  • Next add the whisked yogurt and mix. Add water as required. Cover and let it cook until chicken is done.
  • Add garam masala, green chilies, ginger and coriander and mix. Cover and simmer for 10-12 mins on low heat.
  • Add butter/ghee (this is optional)
  • Add dried fenugreek leaves (kasuri methi) and mix.
  • Serve it hot with chutney, naan, roti or rice. And enjoy 🙂
